Computer To Plate (CTP)

Prepress is moving from film to digital technology. The advantages of digital prepress are: on-demand printing, streamlined workflow, faster delivery, more consistent quality, more repeatable results, easy backups and restoration of files, and image scanning. This highly precise imaging technology replaces conventional filmwork, moving jobs directly from your electronic flies to the CREO platemaker.

Kromar's prepress department is expanding greatly due to our use of our Creo Computer To Plate (CTP) system fitted with the latest in thermal imaging technology. This is all done digitally which eliminates the use of film in book production. CTP gives you more control and fewer errors, as your job moves directly from digital file to plate. This filmless environment eliminates the dust, error and wasted time that plague conventional workflows. And we gain the ability to print a sharper dot.

Creating your digital files correctly will allow you to take advantage of the benefits of CTP:

1. Lower Production Costs - no film needed therefore your project costs less and gets done faster.

2. Improved Print Quality - Better image depth and clarity since the image is taken from the original file.

3. Backup of Files - If something should happen to a page somewhere in the printing process, with film, it can take some time to recreate it, but with a digital file, it's recoverable in minutes from our backups.

4. Colour Proofing - Reproduction quality is guaranteed because the proofer is calibrated to the output characteristics of our presses.
